One killed in Hammersdale truck crash
The accident occurred during the early hours of the morning.
AN articulated truck crashed on Monday morning, 9 November on the N3 highway near Hammersdale.
At approximately 4am, paramedics arrived on the scene where they found the truck halfway down the embankment. Upon further inspection, paramedics found that the driver of the truck, believed to be in his thirties, sustained fatal injuries. There was nothing that they could do for him and he was declared dead on the scene.
“It was not clear if the driver of the truck was flung from the cab during the collision or if he jumped out of the cab shortly before the crash. The exact cause of the crash is not yet known. Local authorities attended the scene,” said Werner Vermaak, ER24 spokesman.
The N3 highway at Hammersdale was closed down for clean-up operations.
