Metro police and CANSA entertain Flame Lily

A presentation on safety and security was given to the residents at the retirement home.

AS part of its community outreach programme and a Metro Police initiative, Metro policemen, Cpt Peter Keogh, Insp Jacques Fourie, his dog Fancy and two representatives from CANSA visited Flame Lily Park Retirement Home on Thursday, 22 October. They gave a presentation on safety and security to the residents at the retirement home.

Linda Cipolla of CANSA gave a talk on cancer, what to do and how to detect it, as October is Cancer Awareness Month. The talk was followed by music from the 60s by Capt Keogh, who got residents clapping, singing along and having a great time. However, it was Fancy who stole the day.

Matron, Laura McCamon, welcomed the visit and thanked the guests for the entertainment. “I would like to convey our sincere thanks for the visit to our frail care residents at Flame Lily Park. The residents were all commenting on this being one of the best visits and entertainment they have had for a long time.

“Most residents were amazed that Metro Police are so approachable and could provide such wonderful entertainment.

“They all thoroughly enjoyed the visit by Insp Fourie and Fancy, the friendly police dog, which also dispelled their beliefs that all police dogs were dangerous,” she said.
