Two shootings in Resevoir Hills in as many days

A security guard was injured in a shooting on McClarty Road at around 3.20am.

HIJACKERS shot two residents on Wednesday (14 October) and a security guard was injured in a second shooting in Reservoir Hills in the early hours of Thursday morning (15 October).

Blue Security operations manager, Brian Jackson, said a couple had been hijacked outside a property in Mountbatten Drive at around 6pm on Wednesday night.

“Hijackers ambushed the couple who were shot during the incident. Paramedics attended the scene and transported the victims to hospital,” he said.

Jackson said in the second incident, a security guard was injured in a shooting at a property in McClarty Road at around 3.20am on Wednesday.

“Three armed robbers entered the property via a back entrance and fired several shots. A security guard was shot in the wrist and taken to hospital for medical treatment,” he said.“The robbers did not manage to gain entry into the house. Nothing was reported stolen.”

Jackson said the company had increased patrols to the area following the incidents.

“We have instructed our armed response officers to be on high alert when patrolling and we also urge residents to report to the police and their security company any suspicious loiterers or vehicles that they notice cruising the area.

Reporting suspicious activity for us to investigate on the ground sends a message to criminals that crime will not be tolerated in the area,” he said.

Westville SAPS attended the scene of the crime.
