Contract killer cop arrested

It is alleged that the arrested detective organised three hitmen to carry out the murder.

AFTER being on the run for four months, an unnamed Pinetown police detective, believed to be linked to the murder of businesswoman, Nalini Naidoo (who was found dead near the Shongweni Dam in October last year) was arrested on Thursday, 10 September.

It has been reported that the officer had been in hiding the Eastern Cape and has been transported back to Durban to appear in court.

The Provincial Task Team had launched a search in July this year to find the man in connection with his alleged role in the murder of Naidoo, who sustained a stab wound to her neck.

According to police reports, Naidoo (47), who lived n the Mount Edgecombe Golf Estate, was dropped off at the Malvern Centre by her husband on 29 October, 2014 at around 10am prior to her disappearance.

She was found after an unknown man notified police of his gruesome discovery. The man, who was driving a white bakkie, stopped police at the Hillcrest Private Hospital on the same day at around 11.45am and said he saw the body of a woman while he was offloading refuse.

It is alleged the arrested detective organised the three hitmen.

Naidoo’s husband, a former policeman who was accused of having a role in planning his wife’s murder, appeared in the Durban Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 29 June after handing himself over to investigating officers.

Three other men, Gcina Magwaza, Zwelakhe Maphumulo, and Kholekile Sithole, were each convicted and sentenced to 45 years for murder and kidnapping.

The respective authorities were contacted for comments and none had been received by the time of publishing. If any more information comes to light, an update will be made available.
