St Mary’s announces scholarship awardees

Six pupils were chosen as scholarship awardees recently.

PRINCIPAL of St Mary’s DSG, Jonathan Manley, and staff of the Kloof-based school hosted the scholarship awardees for 2016 last Tuesday at an evening function. Parents, girls and Nicole Jacobs from Atholl Heights attended the event, hosted at the school.

Altogether there were 81 applicants who applied for academic scholarships and of these, 10 were called back for the second interview round. Nineteen applicants were considered for the sport scholarship and 15 were short-listed for the music scholarship audition.

The following girls were awarded and accepted scholarships for entry into Grade 8 next year: Savannah Scoular (music) – St Mary’s DSG Primary School; Hannah Brown (sport) – St Mary’s DSG Primary School; Nokukhanya Shabalala (closed) – St Mary’s DSG Primary School; Lonwaba Tshalata (academic) – Atholl Heights Primary School; Alanna Swaintston-Harrison (academic) – St Mary’s DSG Primary School; and Zoe Coombe (academic) – Atholl Heights Primary School.
