Enforce and SAPS honing in on upper Highway robbers

Enforce and the SAPS tracked and arrested a thief in the Highway area.

After a series of house break-ins in a gated community within the Hillcrest area, the Enforce investigation team established that an alleged robber was using one of the mobile devices stolen from a home in the gated community.

Enforce made use of informants who spoke to the alleged robber and got his name, address and place of work. The alleged robber is a male around 50 years old who works for a construction company. Enforce investigators, together with the SAPS, used this information to track the man to a nearby estate and waited until the end of his shift before arresting him on Monday, 6 July.

The man was then interrogated and in the early hours on Tuesday, 7 July and further information was brought to light and additional property was recovered. Included in the recovered items were laptops and an iPad, but these have not yet been linked to the other cases. A further investigation is ongoing and other alleged robbers have been identified.

The man first appeared in court on the morning of Tuesday, 7 July and then reappeared on Monday, 13 July after further investigation. He was released on R2 000 bail.

“Enforce is working closely with the SAPS to catch the alleged criminals involved in these crimes with the shared goal of getting criminals off the streets and eradicating crime in the upper Highway area,” said a spokesperson for Enforce.
