Alleged robbers arrested in Pinetown

The two alleged robbers were spotted by the victim the next day.

TWO men aged 25 appeared in the Pinetown Magistrate’s Court for armed robbery and were remanded into custody until Monday, 20 July for further investigation.

Pinetown SAPS communications officer, Lt Bongumusa Manqele, said it is alleged that on Wednesday, 8 July in the early hours of the evening, the victim (26) was walking along Crompton Street in Pinetown when he was robbed of his cellphone and cash at knife-point by two men.

“The robbers fled the scene on foot. The victim claims to have spotted the men in the Pinetown CBD the next day and called police to the scene to apprehend them,” said Manqele. The men were charged shortly after their apprehension.
