Community mourns the death of a reformed drug addcict

Ndlovu's mom, Rose Mhlongo, said it is still very hard to accept that her son has been killed.

KWADABEKA SAPS station commander, Col Sandra Nala, has promised that the police would do everything in their power to arrest the person who killed Kethukuthula Ndlovu, a reformed drug addict.

Khethukuthula Ndlovu, known as Khetha, wanted to lead a clean life, but was shot and killed on Tuesday, 16 June, and later died in hospital the following morning.

Khetha worked at a car wash in KwaDabeka after he went for rehabilitation and decided to change his life for the better.

Khetha’s mom, Rose Mhlongo, said it is still very hard to accept that her son has been killed. Mhlongo admitted that her son had a drug problem, but she had high hopes from him after he came back from rehabilitation.

“He had changed a lot, and he encouraged other addicts to try and change their habits. Khetha was not a violent person and did not talk much. I wish that the person who did this could be arrested,” she said.

Bongumusa Molefe, one of the founders of the Clermont and KwaDabeka Youth Intervention Against Crime and Drugs, said Khetha’s death has left a large gap in the world.

“Khetha was the glue that held all his brothers in rehab together, and he continued to keep them together after rehabilitation. Whoever killed Khetha killed a big part of us and the project,” said Molefe.

KwaDabeka Police station commnder, Col Nala, confirmed the incident and said they would leave no stone unturned in their efforts to arrest Ndlovu’s murderer.

“In the short time that I knew him, I saw a lot of potential in him. He was a strong member of the KwaDabeka Youth Intervention Against Crime and Drugs team.

“He also worked hard; his murder came as a shock to everyone, especially at the car wash where he worked,” she said.

Ndlovu will be buried in KwaDabeka this weekend.
