‘Jailed’ SPCA members raise money for cattery

The Kloof & Highway SPCA raised over R200 000 in "bail'' money.

Twenty-four Kloof & Highway SPCA staff members and volunteers were locked up with a pet for adoption for 24 hours in the new dog socialisation runs to raise funds for the SPCA cattery upgrade project.

Those in lock-up were not allowed to leave until they had raised a minimum of R5 000 towards the new project. They raised more than R200 000, with donations still coming through.

Barbara Patrick, manager of the Kloof SPCA, said, “The fundraiser was a huge success and it was so well-supported by the community.Thank you to everyone who took part in our Dog Box 2015 challenge and to those who donated towards our bail, visited us and brought us treats. A very big thank you for caring and making a difference in the lives of animals in our care.”
