Raiders compete in challenging home game

The Raiders teams went up against Ogwini Bafana and Durban Collegians.

PINETOWN Raiders faced their toughest test this season at their first home game on Saturday. The 2XV went up against Ogwini Bafana.

The Raiders team missed out on eight possible points as Jason Wilks clearly put on the wrong boots for the day. The only point for the Raiders came from youngster, Matthew Smith, with a beautiful textbook try. The final score was 10-5 to Ogwini Bafana.

The 1XV battled it out against Durban Collegians. The Collegians team had a clear upper hand as they scored three tries before the Raiders team hit back with one of their own. Raiders were handed a hail Mary when the Collegians team conceded a penalty and a yellow card. Yet the Raiders just could not make the most of it.

The tries from the Raiders team came from youngster, Mason Middleton, and club chairman, Leigh McNeill. Final score was 43-15 to DBN Collegians. The Pinetown Raiders would like to thank all the supporters who were present at the grounds on Saturday and Mozambik, which sponsored the Man of the Match vouchers.

Raiders 2XV’s next battle is against Hillcrest at Hillcrest on Wednesday, 13 May at 7pm. The Raiders 1XV will be hosting Rovers at Ashley Sports Club on Saturday, 16 May at 3pm.
