Another taxi owner killed in Hillcrest

Police are appealing to anyone who can help them with information regarding a taxi owner who was killed in KwaNgcolosi.

A 63-YEAR-old taxi owner was shot and killed in the KwaNgcolosi area, Hillcrest on Wednesday morning.

Zibeke Gideon Bhengu is the second taxi owner to be shot in the Hillcrest area in less than two months. Hlanganani David Ndlela (45) was also shot and killed in his Toyota Quantum outside his house. Both Bhengu and Ndlela were members of Nqetho Taxi Owners’ Association.

Hillcrest SAPS communications officer, Cst Ndumiso Manqele, said Bhengu was shot at the intersection of Bhekisisa and Wushwini Roads.

Police said Bhengu was sitting in his bakkie observing taxi operations when an unidentified man approached him and shot him twice.

The motive of the killing is unknown at this stage and no arrest has been made. A case of murder was reported to the Hillcrest police station.
