Do authorities care about Westville?

Westville resident wonders when authorities will address the municipal issues in Westville.

EDITOR – Does anyone who has any authority care about Westville?

Do they care about our deteriorating, cracking, potholed roads? Just drive along Jan Hofmeyr if you are unsure of what I mean.

Do they care that our verges are totally overgrown? Do they care that our centre islands are overgrown with weeds?

Do they care that our traffic lights and beautiful palm trees are littered with illegal signage? Do they care that advertising boards are now being pegged into the ground on the road verges?

Do they care that the fencing down the M13 right through the centre of Westville is rusty, partly dilapidated and partly non-existent? Do they care that the pavement edges are overgrown and the weeds are as high as our knees?

Do they care that the 'new' pavements are already cracking and full of weeds? Do they think that new road markings and partially covered potholes, that are open up again a few days later, constitutes maintenance? Or is it just a tick in the box of the to-do list?

I think the answer must be no. I don't think that anyone with any authority cares – from the mayor, the municipal office workers, the counsellors or the actual labourers. I don't believe you care about your job.
