Fire destroys Gillitts homes

The community is requested to donate food, clothing and blankets for the two destitute families.

A RAGING fire swept through two homes in Gillitts earlier today (Thursday, 23 April), leaving two families destitute.

The families, which live next door to each other in Sweetpea Lane (off Stockville Road), lost everything in the fire.

Mark Reddy and his two sons, Noel (in his 20s) and Nathan (three years old), are members of one of the two families whose home was destroyed. Eighty-year-old Lilly Chetty and her daughter, Daphne (30), son Adrian (19) and a family friend, Samuel (19) were also affected by the blaze.

The SA Community Crime Watch and SA Can are appealing for donations in the form of food, clothes and blankets for the families.

All donations can be delivered to the community hall on Stockville Road.

Men’s clothing needed in shirt size XXL and XL, pants size 38, shoe size 10 and 12. Women’s clothing needed in size 38 and shoe size is 4. They also need boys’ medium-sized shirts, pants size 30 and shoes size 8 for two boys.
