Overwhelming community support for Clement the pizza man

The Highway community shows their support for local pizza delivery man, Clement Goslett, who was injured in a motorbike crash last week.

THE Highway community has raised more than R11 000 for their beloved Waterfall pizza delivery man, Clement Goslett, who was involved in a motorbike crash last week.

From food donations to auctions, the community has rallied support for Clement, who is known for always smiling and knowing his customers by name. The funds raised will be used to buy Clement a new delivery bike for work.

On Saturday, 11 April, Dwain Dreyer wrote on the Upper Highway Heroes Facebook page: “Some fantastic news to start your Saturday! Just spoke with Clement’s wife. His boss made contact with her and has committed to continue paying him until he is up and running again and also writing off the cost of deliveries from that night that were lost. He stated he does not want to lose Clement.”

On Sunday, 12 April some of his colleagues visited him at RK Khan Hospital. Richard Hipkin wrote: “Today some of the Debonairs staff, accompanied the junior manger, gave Clement a surprise visit in hospital to wish him a speedy recovery and to let him know how much they miss him. He was over the moon seeing all his friends and the visit went down a real treat.”

Leighann O’Connor Hall, who, along with Margaret Stoop, is auditing Clement’s funds, said: “Just received the bank statement, thank you Margaret Stoop.”

Leighann said the account will be reconciled on Monday, 13 April: “Well done to everybody who put their hands up, I’ll count your donations later.”
