Furry fun at Horse & Hound

Despite the occasional downpour, animal lovers and their four legged companions enjoyed a fun day in the country.

There was a good turn-out as owners and their dogs braved the indecisive weather to enjoy the Coastal Horse Care Unit and Animal Lodge Horse & Hound Extravaganza.

There were plenty of fun doggy competitions, such as best-dressed dog, best matching outfits and owner-dog lookalike, and, of course, the superdog challenge, which saw dogs and sometimes owners having to brave the 20 fun obstacles, which included a deep water obstacle and owners hopping in a feed sack balancing a cup of water, much to the amusement of their dogs.

There was also plenty of ringside entertainment provided, with canine agility, the highest jump competition, Dave Leslie and his talented ponies, a parade of rescue horses looking for homes, a dog carting demo, playing of bagpipes and an Easter egg hunt for the children.

Animal-related product stalls, charity stalls and refreshment and food on sale completed the line-up of a fantastic day in the country.
