Pinetown welfare gets fresh coat of paint

Community Chest, with the assistance of volunteers from Varsity College - Westville, painted the front building of the Pinetown and Highway Child and Family Welfare Society on Wednesday, 25 March.

THANKS to the Community Chest’s project, Day of Caring, the Pinetown and Highway Child and Family Welfare Society received a much-needed facelift on Wednesday, 25 March.

Community Chest and volunteer students from Varsity College – Westville united for this community project.

According to Maligay Naidu, social worker manager at the Pinetown and Highway Child and Family Welfare Society, they desperately needed a facelift at the front entrance of the building. She asked if the volunteers could concentrate on that particular area, as well as clear the gutters and pull out the weeds from the parking area, which they kindly did. She added that Melki Civils also assisted with the upgrading of the building.

Zanele Ntombela, student relations manager at Varsity College – Westville said it was a great opportunity to assist and give back to the community.

“It really was a team effort. About 25 students worked two shifts on the day,” said Ntombela.

Pinetown and Highway Child and Family Welfare Society thanked Community Chest and Varsity College for their help.

“The entrance of the building will now be more than welcoming to our clients,” said Naidu.
