Community supports patrollers’ fun day

The event brought residents, neighbours, Pine Ridge Neighbourhood Watch patrollers and zone captains together to meet each other.

PINE Ridge Neighbourhood Watch hosted a fun day for the community on Sunday, 8 March.

According to Scot Fordyce of the Pine Ridge Neighbourhood Watch, they wanted to bring the community together so that they could meet each other and their neighbours, and the respective zone captains and patrollers. The community was also welcome to ask any questions they had.

“We had different activities on the day – patrollers played soccer against the residents, and we had jumping castles for the little kiddies,” said Fordyce.

There was also a demonstration for the local Metro Fire Department, which were supportive and arrived in a big fire engine to surprise the children. The patrollers had fires going for the residents to braai and some brought picnics to have on the day.

“The main event allowed the residents to meet two celebrities who live in our community, those being our very own Olympic swimmer, Chad Le Clos, and Mrs India SA, Tracey Maharajah. The children and a number of women were happy to get Chad’s signature,” said Fordyce.

Pine Ridge Neighbourhood Watch thanked Chad and Tracey for taking time out of their schedules to help promote the community day.
