Kloof school joins SPCA’s change can project

Pupils taught the importance of animal care through SPCA projects.

KLOOF Pre-Primary School has partnered with the Kloof and Highway SPCA on their change can campaign. The aim of this project is to fill the pink change cans with spare coins. All the money collected goes to the Kloof and Highway SPCA’s outreach programme, in which animals from disadvantaged areas are treated and sterilised.

Kloof Junior Primary School has also taken up the challenge of filling change cans to contribute to the worthy outreach programme, and at the same time teach pupils the importance of sterilisation and caring for animals.

Lisa Gadd, PR and outreach officer at the Kloof and Highway SPCA, said, “The Kloof and Highway SPCA recently gave a 2015 calendar to all the teachers in our community, and a newsletter informing them of all the latest developments, projects and fundraising initiatives that we are doing at the Kloof and Highway SPCA. We appealed to them and their pupils to get involved in making a difference to the welfare of animals within our community. Kloof Senior Primary School gladly accepted the free calendars and letters, but challenged teachers to make a donation for their calendar gift.

“The calendars are displayed in each classroom, reminding pupils of the importance of kindness and care towards animals. Kloof High School was delighted with the 2015 calendars and initiated the challenge to teachers to make a donation towards a worthy cause. It is vital to educate pupils of all ages about animal welfare and the prevention of animal cruelty.”
