UPDATE: Owner fined R6 000 for animal cruelty

Cindy Naidoo was handed a sentence of a R6 000 fine or six months’ imprisonment, half of which is suspended for five years, for animal cruelty.

She will have a criminal record and will have to pay the Kloof & Highway SPCA costs of R3 300 on or before 30 April.

Barbara Patrick, manager of the Kloof & Highway SPCA, said, “Justice has been served for Zoë, who was left to suffer by her owner, Cindy Naidoo, who admitted to being guilty of animal cruelty.

“Thank you to the person who reported this case to the Kloof & Highway SPCA, and to Inspector Cheri Cooke and the team who helped with the investigation. We hope that our community realises that cases of animal cruelty will not be ignored by the SPCA.”
