Children injured in M13 crash

Eight school children were injured in a three-car crash on the M13 on Friday.

EIGHT children between the age of six and 10 years old were injured while on their way to school this morning (Friday, 23 January) on the M13 Durban-bound before Westwood Mall.

Just after 7am, Rescue Care paramedics were called to the M13 for a three-vehicle collision involving a school minibus and two cars.

“On arrival paramedics found the terrified children still inside the taxi. On assessment paramedics found that the children had sustained minor injuries, and treated them before transporting them to various Durban hospitals. One other occupant from the other two vehicles also sustained minor injuries,” said Rescue Care’s Garrith Jamieson.

At this stage it is unclear what caused the collision; however, SAPS was on scene and will be investigating further.
