Three men were arrested in KwaDabeka and Ntuzuma by Wartburg detectives for house robbery.

WARTBURG detectives embarked on an operation on Monday in the KwaDabeka and Ntuzuma areas, tracing three men wanted for house robberies.

According to Major Thulani Zwane, KZN police communications officer, the detectives were following up information about three men who were wanted for two house robberies in the area.

“The first two men were located in KwaDabeka, and the third suspect was arrested in Ntuzuma.

“During the operation stolen goods, such as cell phones and DVD players, were recovered and positively identified by the owners,” he said.

The men, aged between 23 and 35, were charged with two counts of house robbery and are expected to appear in the New Hanover Magistrate’s Court.

Zwane said on 31 December, 2014 at about 9.30pm, the victim was sleeping in his house in the Swayimani area, Wartburg when he was approached by three men who demanded cash from him at knife point.

“He was robbed of his cell phones, DVD player and cash before the robbers fled the scene on foot.

“A case of house robbery was opened at Wartburg police station for further investigation,” added Zwane.

KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Mmamonnye Ngobeni, applauded the arrest of the three men by Wartburg police.

“We hope that the arrested suspects may be linked to other house robberies that were reported in other areas in the province,” she said.
