Workers injured as truck overturns

Gum poles landed on workers as a truck overturned in Hillcrest recently.

FOUR workers were injured when a truck carrying gum poles overturned on a rural road in Hillcrest recently.

Chris Botha, media spokesman for Netcare 911, noted that the truck was travelling down a steep road when the incident occurred. “Reports indicate the driver veered off the road causing the truck to overturn, spilling its load of poles and the workers,” said Botha.

Netcare 911 paramedics and the provincial services arrived at the scene and after triaging found that three people were seriously injured. One man had minor injuries. “After the injured were treated at the scene paramedics transported them to a local hospital,” concluded Botha.
