Westville Junior makes a roaring donation

Master Highway, Reece van Tonder, and his school friends donated a mountain of goodies to the Cowies Hill Lions Club.

WHEN Reece van Tonder was crowned Master Highway at the Cowies Hill Lions’ Club’s recent pageant, he knew he had to collect goods for charity, but he never thought his school friends would help him collect so much.

As a winner, the Cowies Hill Lions Club required Grade 2 pupil, Reece, to do a charity drive at his school, Westville Junior Primary School. He and his school friends collected dog and cat food, second-hand shoes, clothes, toys and sweets, which will be distributed to the Kloof and Highway SPCA, Ethelbert Children’s Home and Phinduvuye Community Project.

“I’d like to thank Reece and the Westville Junior Primary School pupils for their generous donations, which will go a long way in helping Cowies Hill Lions Club support our community,” said Lyn Botha, president of the Cowies Hill Lions Club.

She urged those who would like to make a difference in their community to contact her at lyn.za@gmail.com
