Update: Animal cruelty case postponed

The case was postponed due to technical glitches.

The trial that commenced in the Pinetown Magistrate’s court on Thursday, 20 November against an owner accused of animal cruelty has been postponed until 18 December.

Inspectorate Manager, Cheri Cooke of the Kloof and Highway SPCA, gave evidence but there were technical difficulties with the recording devices and equipment which stopped working, so the case had to be postponed.

Three more witnesses will be called up to give evidence when the case resumes in December.

The owner is being prosecuted under the Animals Protection Act for animal cruelty after her two dogs were removed in April.
