Eleven injured in taxi accident

Taxi rolls over in Burlington township

ELEVEN people were injured when a taxi traveling to the Burlington township lost control and rolled numerous times before coming to rest on its roof on Sunday afternoon on Piet Retief Road.

Paramedics arrived to find the taxi on its roof with all the passengers outside the vehicle. Eleven people had sustained various injuries ranging from minor to serious injuries.

More ambulances were called to assist in transporting the injured to hospital. All of the injured were stabilised on scene before being transported by Rescue Care and ER24 to various Durban hospitals.

At this stage it is unclear what caused the single vehicle to roll over, however SAPS were on the scene and will be investigating further.
