Help find Shongweni K9 Unit missing dog.

A PROMISING lead about the whereabouts of Shongweni K9 Unit dog, Chaka was reported to come from someone who works in Wiltshire Road.

Andreas Mathios from SA CAN said, the worker saw a dog that fit Chaka’s description coming toward him.

“Unfortunately, dogs on the surrounding properties began to bark, which frightened the dog back into the vegetation.

Chaka went missing last Friday morning, 17 October.

“We will continue to work with the SAPS, neighbourhood watches and other role players. We thank each of them for their effort and support,” he said.

“The unit has conducted an extensive search of the area, which unfortunately yielded no positive results. Chaka has been implanted with a microchip which will verify his identity if he is found and a reward will be given to the person or persons who assist in his recovery,” added Mathios.

Chaka, is a large Rottweiler (weighing approximately 50 kg), he is currently in service to the SAPS Shongweni K9 Unit. He went missing while chasing housebreaking suspects in the vicinity of Wiltshire Road, off Hans Dettman Highway in Pinetown.

Anyone who has seen Chaka or might have a clue of his whereabouts is urged to contact the SA CAN Emergency Response and Prevention Centre on 086 167 2226.
