Pupils receive top honours at speech night

Hillcrest High School held its speech and awards evening last Wednesday.

HILLCREST High School held its annual speech and awards evening last Wednesday.

Shanice Singh was awarded Dux of the school, Rebecca Hill was awarded Proxime Accesit Dux and Marcus Filter was placed third in Grade 12.

Robin Smith received the award for Best Senior All-Round Sportsman and Michaela Groenewald received her award for Best Senior All-Round Sportswoman.

Guest speaker at Hillcrest High School’s senior speech night, Dr Imtiaz Sooliman, received a standing ovation from the audience last Wednesday evening as he described the inception of his philanthropic organisation, Gift of The Givers, and the disaster relief that it carries out in countries throughout the world. Dr Sooliman encouraged each and every pupil to stand proud as a South African and to acknowledge the resources and talent that our country has to offer the rest of the world.
