Man robbed at Hillcrest bank

A man was robbed of thousands just moments before he was about to make a deposit.

TWO armed robbers held up a man and robbed him of a large amount of cash on his way into a Hillcrest bank. SA Community Crime Watch’s Steven King said the man was robbed of R35 000 as he was about to deposit the money at the bank on Monday 20 October at about 10am.

“I received a message on the watch’s chat group that a bank in Hillcrest had been robbed. When I arrived on scene I found out it was a client that was robbed and not the bank.

“Two armed men approached the man as he was making his way into the bank and robbed him. They made off in a 2001 silver Toyota Carola with an NPN registration number. It was last seen heading toward Kassier Road,” King added.

No shots were fired. Hillcrest SAPS, Secure Link, Blue Security, SA Community Crime Watch and Careline Crisis Centre were on scene.
