KwaRescue partnership focuses on vulnerable children

Local charity, KwaRescue, is renovating the Pinetown Magistrate's Court child preparation rooms to make it easier for children affected by sexual abuse to testify.

LOCAL charity, KwaCare, is reaching out to empower and assist children at local court hearings who were victims of sexual abuse.

The project was launched as a response to the epidemic of rape and sexual violence in South Africa.

KwaRescue and local company, We Train Durban, partnered together to improve the conditions for children testifying against sexual offences at the Pinetown Magistrate’s Court.

KwaRescue recently renovated the Durban Court Child Preparation Rooms and the child preparation rooms at the

Pinetown Magistrate’s Court are next.

The child court preparation services play a key role in sexual offences’ courts. The renovations of these children’s facilities ensure that children attending court have a safe and comfortable environment to make testifying easier. Local personal trainer, Mariska Grace, from We Train Durban, is partnering with KwaRescue by participating in the Warrior Xtreme 24 hour obstacle race.

She will be pushing herself beyond her limits in this 5km course consisting of 15 obstacles, to raise the funds needed for the Pinetown renovation.

Businesses and individuals can donate a one off amount or pledge an amount per lap Mariska completes. The Warrior Xtreme race takes place at the Hero Adventure Park, at Heia Safari in Johannesburg, on Saturday 1 November for 24 hours.
