U11 cricket tournament a success

Some of the top primary schools showed off great cricket skills at the Waltons Twenty/20 U11 cricket tournament at Kearsney College and Highbury at the weekend.

THE annual Waltons twenty/20 U11 cricket tournament, played at Kearsney College and Highbury Preparatory, ended on an exciting note with the result of the ‘yellow pool’ only being decided in the last over of the last game.

There were some outstanding performances in the 63 games played. Ethan Hooker of the Winston Park Pythons and Daniel de Kock of the Highbury Hurricanes both scored over 100 in a single game and Sean Hatton of the Chelsea Lions took 6 for 10 in one game all bowled.

The Yellow Caps pool was won by Umhlali Dolphins, who beat the Chelsea Lions by one run in the last game and the Red pool by the DPHS Dragons. Both teams went through the tournament unbeaten.

The weekend saw some great cricket by some of the top primary school players in KZN.
