DA celebrates the nation’s heritage

The DA's West Durban MP, Tim Brauteseth said Heritage Day is the single most important and unique South African day in the calendar.

SOME people call it braai day, others see it as a cultural celebration – to the DA in West Durban it’s about sharing the best of your culture with others in a manner that brings people together.

The DA’s West Durban MP, Tim Brauteseth, said it’s the single most important and unique South African day in the calendar.

This Heritage Day, the DA were honoured by Zulu youth who danced, recited poetry and cooked for them, bringing the wide area of West Durban together at Alfred Park in New Germany.

“We planted trees together in a unique spirit, transcending race, background and where we came from, and together I hope we created a little heritage of our own. It was, and will always be, a day when we can look at our extended SA family and see how far we have come together, the bonds of brotherhood that we have built, the respect that we have for each other and the unique way that we share in embracing every member and building our common, inclusive future,” said Brauteseth.

He said five little trees stand as a tribute to their togetherness and he hopes they grow strong and welcome more members in its shade next year. “We shall not rest but plant the seeds of a nation’s success every day,” said Brauteseth.
