Kloof Friends Forum hosts another speaker

Guest speaker, William Saunderson-Meyer, will speak at the Friends’ Forum at Kloof Junior Primary School hall on Tuesday 7 October at 6pm.

KLOOF Library’s Friends’ Forum has been running for more than 10 years and is one of the fund-raising events held by the Friends of Kloof Library.

All funds raised go towards new books and various projects in Kloof Library, for example the study centre. Over the past few years the Friends have hosted speakers on a number of different subjects from current affairs to environmental topics. Speakers have included Clem Sunter, Allister Sparks, Professor George Hughes, Patricia Glyn, Dr David Klatzow and many other excellent authorities on various topics.

Tickets are always reasonably priced and there are discounts for members of the Friends of Kloof Library. Anyone wishing to join the Friends of the Library (which, apart from other perks, will entitle you to receive newsletters on a regular basis) may pop in to the library and fill in an application form. Subscriptions cost R45 (R75 per couple) which will ensure membership until the end of 2015. Those wanting to have their names added to the mailing list for news of forthcoming speakers can email Jill Storrar at: jill.storrar@telkomsa.net. Discounted tickets only apply to those who have paid their subscription to the Friends of Kloof Library.

The next speaker for the Friends’ Forum will be William Saunderson-Meyer. His talk takes place at Kloof Junior Primary School hall on Tuesday 7 October at 6pm. William writes incisive and cutting articles on many subjects for a variety of publications. Always interesting and always thought provoking, some people love him, some don’t. He has been writing his column, the Jaundiced Eye for more than 20 years. He holds an MSc from Oxford University in management and has an avid interest in sculpture, particularly Zimbabwean sculpture. The title of his talk will be, A Jaundiced Eye on 20 Years of the Rainbow Nation.

Tickets cost R50 each for visitors and R35 each for members of Friends of Kloof Library, and are available from Kloof Library on 031 764 7543.
