Teens arrested for Westville drive-by shooting

Three teenage boys arrested in Westville and charged with grievous bodily harm (GBH).

THREE teenage boys were arrested on Wednesday morning for allegedly shooting a municipal worker in Westville Road.

According to Westville Police Station communications officer, Stephen Clark, Municipal workers were cutting trees on Westville Road when one became a victim of a drive-by shooting.

“The workers said a red Renault Clio with the three teenagers passed them several times, one of them pointed a black pistol at them and shot one of the workers in the hand.

Clark said a resident who passed the scene saw that a projectile was lodged in the man’s hand and tried to assist.

“Witnesses gave this resident a thorough and detailed description of the teens, the car and that of the pistol used,” said Clark.

Westville SAPS were called to the scene.

“The resident that assisted the workers spotted the car at Varsity College on Link road.

“He kept watch over the car until SAPS arrived.

“A pellet gun was found upon searching the perpetrators and the car,” said Clark.

They were arrested and charged with assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm (GBH).

The worker was treated by paramedics at the scene, then transported to hospital.

The three teens will appear in the Pinetown Magistrate Court tomorrow morning.
