KwaNdengezi fashion designer to represent the Highway area

KwaNdengezi' fashion designer, Pinky Dlamini, is showing her collection at the Durban Fashion Fair.

KWANDENGEZI (elok’shini’s) fashion designer Pinky Dlamini of Modesta describes her collection for the Durban Fashion Fair (DFF) this year as simple and elegant, with an African-touch.

When it comes to inspiration for her designs, Dlamini said she was first inspired to get into the industry by the fascination of having an idea in mind, bringing it to life in the form of a sketch, fabric and trimmings, sewing it up until it comes to life in the form of a completed garment.

Having studied fashion design at the Durban University of Technology, Dlamini has learnt the fundamentals of creating well-designed garments, but said she would most like to learn the business side of the fashion world through participating in the DFF this year.

“If I could have the opportunity to dress two celebrities, it would be South African politician Lindiwe Sisulu or Michelle Obama,” she said.

Dlamini said her favourite clothing items are fitted skirts, dresses and jackets as these items bring out the feminine side of the woman that she is.
