One dead in N3 truck collision

TWO trucks collided along the N3 in Shongweni at 6am this morning, which left one man dead and another seriously injured.

According to Chris Botha, media spokesman for Netcare 911, the trucks were Pietermaritzburg bound and it took place just past the Shongweni off ramp.

“Netcare 911 paramedics and their rescue unit arrived at the scene and found one of the occupants of the rear truck still trapped in the vehicle,” said Botha.

The paramedics noted that the passenger of the truck had died at the scene due to his extensive injuries. The driver of the heavy duty truck was outside the vehicle and was seriously injured.

Once the driver was stabilised at the scene he was taken to a local hospital.
