Cries of negligence as taxi rank collapses

A TAXI rank shelter in Clermont collapsed on Monday afternoon just three years after its construction. Angry residents claimed that the structure was not solid.

“This is negligent, this taxi rank was built in 2011 it is so fortunate that this happened in the afternoon where there are few taxis in the rank, not in the morning rush,” said a taxi commuter.

A taxi and a small car parked under the shelter were damaged following the sudden collapse.

The driver of the taxi that was damaged said they were sitting inside the taxi when they heard a loud bang.

“We ran out of the taxi and saw the shelter had collapsed over the three vehicles that were parked under it.

“I am still very shocked, we were lucky we got out without a scratch.”
