18 year sentence for Pinetown rapist

A man got 18 years for the rape of his girlfriend's younger sister.

On Thursday, 3 July, The Pinetown Regional Court convicted and sentenced Sbusiso Ntuli (31) to 18 years imprisonment for the rape of a 13-year-old girl at her home.

On 8 July 2013 at approximately 3.50am, the victim was asleep in the room with her siblings and her sister’s boyfriend, Sibusiso. The accused dragged the victim to his bed and raped her. Her sister woke up and caught the Ntuli in the act.

A case of rape was reported at Pinetown Police Station and the docket was transferred to the Pinetown Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit for further investigation.

The following day, Ntuli was arrested and charged for rape. He appeared in the Pinetown Regional Court several times before he was sentenced.

KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Mmamonnye Ngobeni welcomed the heavy sentenced meted to the accused.

“We highly appreciate the passion and dedication of our FCS members when they are investigating these criminals who targets and abused our vulnerable women and children. They thoroughly investigate the case and present a comprehensive docket before the magistrate,” she said.
