Three injured in M13 crash

Traffic was severely affected on the M13 Durban bound near Westwood Mall after a car rolled several times.

THREE people were injured after their car rolled several times this morning on the M13 Durban bound near Westwood Mall.

Two of them are reported to have sustained serious injuries.

Garrith Jamieson, operations director at Rescue Care paramedics said paramedics found two front occupants of the car lying in the fast lane.

“They had been ejected while the car was rolling. They were quickly assessed and it was discovered that they had both sustained serious injuries and needed Advanced Life Support intervention to assist in stabilising them.

“All three were transported to hospital,” he said.

Jamieson added that it is unclear what caused the accident however the road was extremely wet after the rain Durban had experienced. SAPS were in attendance and will be investigating further.

Traffic was severely affected as traffic was diverted from Westwood Mall to allow emergency personnel to clear the scene.

  1. I live close to the accident scene. It’s virtually guaranteed that there will be an accident every time it rains. We see it all the time and are frequently the first callers to 10177. Sadly council will do nothing to alter the road design or signage and more blood will be unnecessarily spilled.
