Reaction officers arrest five

Blue Security's reaction officers were commended for the capture of five criminals in the Highway area.

BLUE Security guards arrested five housebreakers during the past two weeks, following a spate of robberies that took place in the Highway area recently.

The company’s managing director, Henk Van Bemmelen, said housebreakers were arrested in separate incidents, where they were either caught red handed with the stolen goods or on clients’ properties when the reaction officers arrived at the scene.

“A reaction officer arrested a man who jumped over an electric fence in an attempt to break into a property in Assagay. The housebreaker banged on both the doors and windows of the house before he tried to flee by jumping over the gate. His clothes got caught on the gate and he crashed onto the floor in a failed bid to escape.”

The reaction officer who had responded to a business housebreaking in Suffert Street in Pinetown had later spotted a man carrying a bag with aluminium pieces and copper cables.

“Our reaction officer questioned the man about his goods and he told him that he took the metal from a business premises. He then took our officer to the scene and amazingly showed him exactly how he gained entry onto the property. The man was arrested and handed over to the police,” said Van Bemmelen.

In an incident in Kantor Road in Assagay, a reaction officer had arrested a housebreaker who damaged a steel fence and then climbed underneath an electric fence of a residential complex.

“Another reaction officer arrested two housebreakers, who he founding hiding in an outside toilet on a property in Pinetown. The men were handed over to the police,” he said.

Van Bemmelen commended the reaction officers for the arrests.
