Biker injured in Pinetown accident

A motorcyclist was severely injured in a collision at the corner of Old Main Road and St John’s Avenue in Pinetown this morning.

Derrick Banks, ER24 spokesman, reported that the motorcyclist, in his early 20s, was driving along St John’s Avenue when his bike collided with a Ford Fiesta, as the vehicle attempted to turn into St John’s Avenue.

“The motorcyclist sustained a broken leg. Paramedics stabilised him on scene, before he was transported to the RK Khan Hospital. The driver of the light motor vehicle was unharmed, but shaken up,” said Banks.

Traffic was severely affected.

The cause of the accident is unknown at this stage. Authorities were on scene and will investigate the incident.
