An African epic comes to the Catalina

Last Cow Standing opens Thursday 5 June at the Catalina Theatre. Do not miss it.

A South African epic fantasy comes to the Catalina theatre this month that promises to entertain both hearts and minds.

Set in a fictional African kingdom, Last Cow Standing is an epic fantasy story about a young boy, Samira, chosen to save the dying cow herds of his people.

The story follows Samira’s unexpected journey towards manhood, as he overcomes difficult obstacles, including strange mythical creatures, all to save his people’s most prized possessions, their cows.

This African epic is brought to the stage by Durban theatre company, Nu Breed Theatre founded by Sabelo Ndlovu and Menzi Mkhwane.

The company aims to create theatre that is not only captivating and riveting to all South African audiences, but also highlights pressing issues that affect young people today.

Directed by Durban actor/director Lihle Dhlomo (Abnormal Loads), the play stars Menzi Mkhwane , son of celebrated South African theatre legend Bheki Mkhwane, in the role of Samira.

Don’t miss this proudly Durban, proudly South African production.
The play runs from Thursday 5 June to Sunday 15 June, with shows at 3pm and 7pm. Tickets are available at Computicket.
