Newborn found strangled in bush

Mariannhill SAPS is looking for information about a newborn baby found strangled in a bush in Mariannhill.

A NEWBORN baby was found strangled in a bush in Mariannhill on Monday.

Mariannhill SAPS communications officer, Cpt Harold said the baby was found with a black t-shirt wrapped around the neck.

“The baby was found in a bush at Abbot Francis Road near St Mary’s Hospital.

“It is alleged that the mother of the new born baby gave birth in the bushes and used her t-shirt to strangle the baby.

“Clothes contaminated with blood and a pair of scissors that was allegedly used to cut the umbilical cord were found next to the deceased baby,” said Harold.
