Inchanga killers caught and sentenced – 10 years later

Five murderers were finally caught more than 10 years after their crime.

FIVE men were convicted and sentenced in the Pietermaritzburg Regional Court for two counts of murder that they committed more than 10 years ago.

Mduduzi Gwala, 38, Ndodo Bhengu, 36, Xolani Nzama, 27, Nala Hlambisa, 31, and Thulani Zondi, 37, were all sentenced to 10 years in jail for killing Sibusiso Mngadi, 25, and Bho Myeza, 23, of KwaNyuswa.

“On 21 December 2003 at about 1.30am, the Mngadi family were awoken by the screams of Myeza who shouted for help. When the door was opened, the helpless victim was covered in blood and unknown men were busy stabbing him.

“They left after the incident and Mngadi was found dead near the house with multiple stab wounds. Both the deceased were friends and the motive of their murder is still unknown,” said SAPS spokesman, Captain Thulani Zwane.

A case of two counts of murder was opened at the Inchanga Police Station for investigation.

KwaZulu-Natal provincial commissioner, Lieutenant General Mmamonnye Ngobeni commended Inchanga detectives for thoroughly investigating the case that led to the arrest, conviction and sentencing of the men.
