Rotary clubs offer free medical services

Underprivileged communities in Chesterville, Lower Molweni and Inchanga will be able to have the medical tests done for free at the Rotary Family Health Days from 2 to 4 April.

THREE Rotary Clubs in the Highway area will host its Rotary Family Health Day (RFHD) programme from Wednesday 2 April to Friday 4 April.

This is part of a national programme, which has now become an annual event. The aim of the project is to promote family healthy living by providing free medical services to underprivileged communities.

These free services include testing blood pressure and cholesterol levels, polio and measles immunisation are carried out as well. Also included are vital health practices of deworming, nutritional education, HIV testing, TB testing, eye testing and cervical cancer testing, as well as general education in leading a healthy lifestyle.

The Rotary Club of Westville will conduct its free health tests in the Ngilonde Hall in Chesterville adjacent to the existing clinic. The Rotary Club of Kloof’s clinics will be at the Lower Molweni Community Centre in Fannin Road in Kloof and the Rotary Club of Inchanga a 1000 Hills will conduct its clinic at the 1000 Hills Community Helpers Centre in Inchanga.

All the medical testing and consultation will be carried out by the Department of Health and its municipal nursing sisters.
