May’s case adjourned yet again

Sanele May will appear in court again on Friday 28 March where he will be formally charged. May will make his second application for bail on the same day.

CHARGED with 24 counts of murder, Sanele May’s hopes were dashed when his trial was postponed yet again until 28 March.

May was driving the 18-wheeler truck that collided with four minibus taxis and a car last year on Thursday 5 September at the bottom of Field’s Hill.

He appeared via live video feed at the Pinetown Magistrate’s Court this morning to a courtroom filled with journalists, family and members of the Sanele May Support Group.

According to the prosecutor, Sbongiseni Mthethwa, the investigation is complete but the state still needed time to prepare an indictment.

May’s attorney, Professor Mdletshe, said they will apply for bail again on Friday 28 March.

According to a member of the Sanele May Support Group, who did not wish to be named, May was doing “extremely well” and “he does not feel like he belongs in prison” but is willing to wait for the law to take its course.
