Durbanites test their fitness

Scores of adventure seekers took part in the gruelling Trail Run at Shongweni Dam at the weekend.

HIGHWAY residents came out in droves to take part in the Spirit of Adventure’s Trail Run in Shongweni Dam at the weekend.

According to camp director Jurie Pohl, the event was a combination of an obstacle course and a race. There was a 6km and 12km option with a cap of 250 runners per route.

The adventure fundis that took part in the event had to dash through 50m pallet runs, slink through a leopard crawl pitch and take the plunge from a scaffolding jump.

Sibonelo Zondi won the men’s category and finished the fun and gruelling course in 1.22.46 with Jolene Peters taking top position in the women’s category with a time of 2.01.52.
