Shongweni murder accused case postponed to 16 January 2014.

THE case of the four men arrested for the murder of an elderly couple in Shongweni Valley, John and Hester Noble, has been postponed to Thursday 16 January 2014 for a formal bail hearing.

The four men, who appeared in the Pinetown Magistrate Court on Wednesday, each face two charges of murder, housebreaking and aggravated robbery for the double murder. Two of the men came into the courtroom limping.

Legal aid lawyer Fundi Ndlovu asked that the matter be postponed as there were some issues they needed to iron out before they proceeded with the application. Ndlovu asked Magistrate Ishmael Motaung if the accused could be remanded and also get the medical attention that they seek.

This follows the accused complaints about injuries they sustained when they were bitten by police dogs. Motaung said the the matter will be postponed so that both parties can prepare for the application. He said he accused will be remanded in the Westville prison and receive medical attention they seek.
