Local football team heading for top honours

With their new sponsored kit, 1000 Hills FC are aiming high.

NORTH Star Alliance and ARC (the Association of Residential Communities), teamed up to sponsor and donate soccer kits to the 1000 Hills Football Club who are setting their sights high and hoping to achieve success as their 2013 season draws to a close.

“Sport, and in particular soccer, is a powerful platform and has the potential to serve as a vehicle for positive social transformation,” said Jeff Gilmour, President of ARC, “These boys train hard and play hard in difficult circumstances – a dusty, unlevel playing field with no grass or markings – so this was a small contribution and we hope it will make a difference.”

During the 2011/12 season North Star Alliance sponsored the junior side who ended up winning their league.Currently, the 1000 Hills FC First Team is placed fourth in their league with three matches still to play

Director of North Star Alliance (Africa) Paul Matthew said “We believe it is important to contribute to local communities and initiatives, and it has been great working with the coach Philani who is doing a fantastic job of keeping the youth off the streets and involved in sport thereby living health and active lives. We are looking forward to celebrating their successes.”

1000 Hills Football Club coach, Philani Shezi said that he was extremely grateful for the support from these two companies and was very pleased with the donated soccer kits.
