Plans to advance Shongweni Club

Shongweni Dam Football Club is appealing to the community to join them in advancing their club.

RUDE Boys Football Club founder Lindo Mbanjwa is making plans to improve their playground by hosting matches. Situated in Shongweni, the football club consists of local, young, aspiring soccer players in the area. The club was founded in 2015 with the aim of exploring young people’s talents in the area.

Mbanjwa said the playground where they also train during the week is not in a good state and could use some improvements. “We have tried to make sure that all the matches are hosted in the Zama Zama area, given the poor state of the ground. We recently installed proper goalposts, then my partner and I decided to launch the Lindo and Snothies Games. This was aimed at attracting sponsors and talent scouts to search for aspiring soccer players. Our first game, which was held on the Easter weekend, was a great success, and the games will be running until April 19,” said Mbanjwa.

On their first match, Mbanjwa said they had three teams from Shongweni Dam and three other teams from Ntsongweni where Victors Football was the winning team of the tournament.

Mbanjwa appealed to the community to join the good cause and support them, especially with the upcoming match that will be held on April 27.
“The community is invited to come and watch the matches for free. People who want to join the club are also welcome – it is also free to join,” he said.

Mbanjwa said they are looking to get sponsors to donate soccer jerseys, balls and trophies. For more information, you can contact Mbanjwa on 084 410 0302.
