Hillcrest High School to host a career day along with Hillcrest Rotary Club
Hillcrest High School will be hosting yet another career day on Wednesday, March 15.
HILLCREST High School, along with the Hillcrest Rotary Club, is inviting companies to join them on their career day. Taking place on Wednesday, March 15, the career day will serve learners in the area, guiding them to their desired career path.
Explaining about the day, Hillcrest Rotary club president Ian Rayley said: “The day will see different companies with different opportunities on offer. We have created the day to show the students what they can do after high school and for them to be able to explore their interests. It is also an opportunity for them to see different institutions in which they can pursue their careers in Durban and the greater area. It is also an opportunity for institutions to showcase what they have to offer. The day is not limited to study institutions but also institutions where students can do internships.”

The career day also allows the companies/institutions to inform the students of what they each require for positions in their companies.
Furthermore, Hillcrest High offers their senior students a counselling programme that guides them in the right direction. Liesel Huxham, who is part of the counselling department, said the programme is an additional benefit offered on the career day.
“Most of the learners are young and don’t fully know what they want to do yet, which is why we expose them to different choices. If they can’t be helped during the day, they are free to come to us in the evening, and we can advise them further on what subjects they should take and what marks they need for any institution,” she said.
The day will be open to any students, and more companies are invited to add to the 20 companies/institutions that will be present on the day.
